Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported seventeen more covid-19 related deaths during the last 24 hours, taking the fatality count to 835. Meanwhile, 1617 positive cases were also reported taking the total number of cases to 47,542.

Among the victims, officials said nine were residents of Jammu and eight were from Kashmir Valley.

Among those who succumbed include two each from Srinagar and Baramulla besides one each from Budgam, Anantnag, Bandipora and Kupwara.

Regarding deaths from Jammu division, five of the victims were from Jammu district, two from Rajouri and one each from Kathua, Reasi and Kishtwar.

They said a 77-year-old woman from Noorbagh Baramulla, died at SKIMS Soura hospital here, day after she was admitted and diagnosed with “HTN with severe covid pneumonia with type 1 respiratory failure with encephalopathy.”

Hospital sources said a 55-year-old woman from Barzulla, already battling a life-threatening disease and also diagnosed with bilateral Community Acquired Pneumonia died after remaining admitted to the hospital here for a month and five days.

A resident of Bonagam Handwara, admitted on August 29 with bilateral CAP, and a woman from Tragam Shadipora Sumbal, admitted on September 5 with bilateral CAP, died at SMHS hospital.

Also, a 65-year-old woman from Khanyar Srinagar who was diagnosed with Bilateral CAP and T2DM after her admission on September 5 also died at SMHS hospital, they said.

They said a 70-year-old man from Russu Budgam died at SKIMS Bemina, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of covid-19 patients. He was admitted on August 24, they added.

The officials said that a 70-year-old man from Dal Patian Mohala Jammu died three days after being admitted to GMC Jammu as a case of hypertension, bilateral community acquired pneumonia.

A 65-year-old woman from Gazi Pur Kullian Jammu who was diagnosed with “type 2 diabetes mellitus, community acquired pneumonia” died at GMC Jammu, they added.

A 55-year-old man of Nai Basti Jammu, admitted on September 09 and diagnosed with “type2 diabetes mellitus and bilateral community pneumonia died at GMC Jammu, they said.

A 55-year-old woman from Bahu Forte Jammu, admitted on September 4, died at GMC Jammu and was diagnosed with hypertension, type2 diabetes mellitus and CKD died at 2.30.a.m. today, they said.

A 55-year-old man from Tindey Kalan R S PURA, they said, died two days after he was admitted in emergency ward of GMC Jammu.

Another 75-year-old man from Talab Till Near Tange Wali Gali, and a 45-year-old man from Subash Nagar Jammu died 11 days after being admitted to MC Jammu, they added.

With these deaths, officials said, 835 people have succumbed to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir so far. Among them, they said, 712 were from the Valley while 123 others from Jammu division.

Srinagar district with 244 deaths tops the list followed by Baramulla (109), Budgam (67), Pulwama (60), Anantnag (53), Kupwara (56), Jammu (73), Kulgam (40), Shopian (29), Bandipora (26), Ganderbal (25), Kathua (11), Rajouri (12), Doda (8), Poonch (6), Samba (5), Udhampur (4), Reasi (2), Kishtwar (1), and Ramban (1).

Meanwhile, a single day record spike of 1,617 covid-19 cases including 67 travelers were reported today taking the total number of positive cases to 47,542. Of the total 47,542 cases, 33,445 are from Kashmir and 14,097 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 1,617 new cases, 723 belong to Kashmir division while as 894 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 33,445 including 26,505 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 14,097 including 7,366 recoveries and 123 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 12,839 including 6,231 from Kashmir division and 6,608 from Jammu division.

With 620 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 33,871 which is 71.24 percent of the total cases which was over 78 percent few days.

Notably, it is for the first time since covid-19 outbreak, Jammu division has more active cases than in Kashmir division as Jammu division has 6,608 while as Kashmir division has 6,231 active cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 260 from Srinagar, 85 from Baramulla, 37 from Pulwama, 69 from Budgam, 69 from Anantnag, 75 from Bandipora, 51 from Kupwara, 16 from Kulgam, 23 from Shopian and 38 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 894 from Jammu division include 583 from Jammu, 71 from Rajouri, 36 from Kuthua, 77 from Udhampur, 30 from Samba, 18 from Ramban, 31 from Doda, 11 from Poonch, 28 from Reasi and 09 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 10,764 positive cases including 244 deaths and 8,994 recoveries are from Srinagar, 3,199 including 109 deaths and 2,387 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,967 including 2,459 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,088 including 2,183 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Budgam, 2,713 including 53 deaths and 2,021 recoveries are from Anantnag, 2,502 including 1,845 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,524 cases including 1,702 and 56 deaths are from Kupwara, 2,026 including 1,875 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,795 including 1,656 recoveries and 29 deaths are from Shopian and 1,867 including 1,383 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 6,861 including 2,389 recoveries and 73 deaths are from Jammu district, 1,169 including 827 recoveries and 12 deaths are from Rajouri, 1,158 including 813 recoveries and 11 deaths are from Kuthua, 1,166 including 761 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Udhampur, 900 including 599 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Samba, 728 including 652 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 608 including 385 recoveries and 08 deaths are from Doda, 601 including 384 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Poonch, 507 including 345 recoveries and two deaths are from Reasi and 399 including 211 recoveries and 01 death are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 502,377 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 44,532 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 12,839 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 392,784 persons have completed surveillance period and 51,390 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,131,076 samples are available.

Out of 1,131,076 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,083,534 while 47,542 have tested positive, among them 12,839 are active and 33,871 persons have recovered. (With inputs from GNS)
