Fight over land leads to death of man in Poonch

Poonch, Sep 06: A person was killed after a fierce scuffle broke out between two families purportedly over a land dispute in Qasba Mohalla of Pathana here in this frontier district of Jammu division on Sunday forenoon.

Reports said that the two families came face to face this forenoon over some land dispute. During the face-off, as per the reports, both sides exchanged blows and used other tools as well.

In the fierce scuffle a person identified as one Master Mohammad Younis (52) son of Mohammad Yousaf Pathan a resident of village Qasba Mohalla Pathana sustained critical injuries on head and later on succumbed on the spot, reports said.

The deceased person had been working in Education Department as Headmaster at Government Middle School Margaimar Qasba in the district.

Soon after the incident, a police team reached the spot and took the body in custody and later on shifted it to District Hospital Poonch for necessary medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, when contacted SHO Poonch, SD Singh confirmed the incident and said that “Three culprits involved in the scuffle have been arrested so far.”

“An FIR is being registered under relevant sections of law against all those involved in the brutal act”, the police official said. (GNS)
