SKUAST-K conducts training programme on ‘achieving zero hunger by 2030’
Srinagar: An online Training Programme on “Achieving Zero Hunger by 2030” organized by Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Kashmir with support of world bank funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project ended on Friday.
The programme was organized from 17th of this month and ended after ten days of brain storming sessions, a spokesman of the varsity said here.
He said that the training programme is part of a series of such training programmes being organized under Institute Development Plan of National Agricultural Higher Education Project sanctioned to SKUAST-Kashmir with aim to transform Agricultural Education and making SKUAST-K a preferred destination for Agricultural Higher Education in the Country.
The Programme attracted more than 80 participants from all over the country. Several experts of National and International repute who delivered lectures included Prof Kadambot Siddique from University of Western Australia and Dr Nafees Meah, International Rice Research Institute representative for South Asia, Dr. Ch. Srinivsa Rao, Director ICAR-NAARM, Dr Puja Thiel, Nelis Global Norway, Dr Sila Deb, Additional Commisioner MoHFW, Prof A. K Srivastava, Ex Chairman ASRB, ICAR, Prof Nitya Rao, University of Anglis United Kingdom, Dr Vara Prasad, Kansas State University, Joseph George, UNESCAP, Dr M. L. Madan Former Vice Chancellor DUVASU & DDG Animal Sciences ICAR, and many more senior level government functionaries scientists of national and international repute as well as Deans, Directors and Senior Professors of SKUAST-K. A Valedictory function held on 27-08-2020 was chaired by Prof Nazeer Ahmed Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K. Prof Z. A. Pampori, Course Director, while presenting the report of the training summarized the 10 days proceedings and outlined the road map for future. Prof N. A. Ganai Director Planning and Co-ordinator NAHEP complimented the organizers for organizing the training programme and for roping in the experts of national and international repute. He also outlined the Human Resource Development programmes being carried under Institutional Development Programmes of NAHEP.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, expressed satisfaction over conduct different online training programmes under NAHEP, the spokesman added.
He congratulated the organizers and participants on successful completion of the training programme.
He expressed a hope that the Knowledge gained during the 10 days of training shall be put in practice and all the trainees shall contribute in their respective fields to achieve the national goal of achieving zero hunger by 2030.
