696 fresh cases take tally to 35,831

Srinagar: Eight more people died due to covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir since overnight, official sources said on Friday.

They said that all the fatalities were reported from the valley and include two residents each from Srinagar and Kulgam besides one each from Anantnag, Ganderbal, Baramulla and Pulwama.

A 62-year-old man from Saller Anantnag died at SKIMS Soura, six days after he was admitted to the tertiary care hospital, they said.

A 76-year-old man from Mehjoor Nagar died at SMHS hospital here, four days after he was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with as “T2DM, AKD and bilateral CAP”.

A 64-year-old man from Dalgate Srinagar died at CD hospital, one among the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients. Having underlying ailments, the sexagenarian was admitted to the hospital on August 20, they said.

A 60-year-old woman from Guzarbal Ganderbal died at SKIMS Soura, a week after she was admitted to the hospital.

A 65-year-old man from Tangmarg Baramulla died at SMHS hospital, a day after he was admitted to the hospital with bilateral pneumonia, they said.

A 78-year-old man from Tral Payeen having “sepsis with MODS” died at district hospital Pulwama during last night, the officials said.

Regarding victims from Kulgam, officials said that they included septuagenarians from Panzath and Mandhole areas respectively.

With these deaths, 683 people have fallen victims to the covid-19 and include 57 from Jammu division and remaining 626 from Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile, the overall toll of Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 35,831 as fresh 696 cases of COVID-19 were reported on Friday.

The fresh cases include 106 travelers, officials said, adding that of the total 35,831 cases, 27,863 are from Kashmir and 7,968 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 696 new cases, 494 belong to Kashmir division while as 202 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 27,863 including 21,186 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 7,968 including 6,186 recoveries and 57 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir at present are 7,781 including 6,056 from Kashmir division and 1,725 from Jammu division.

With 651 more recoveries, a total of 27,372 patients have so far recovered in Jammu and Kashmir, which is 76.39 percent of the total cases.

Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 8,924 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 7,968.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 194 from Srinagar, 40 from Baramulla, 57 from Pulwama, 59 from Budgam, 31 from Anantnag, 30 from Bandipora, 25 from Kupwara, 11 from Kulgam, 09 from Shopian and 38 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 202 from Jammu division include 109 from Jammu, 08 from Rajouri, 27 from Kuthua, 23 from Udhampur, 09 from Samba, 01 from Ramban, 06 from Doda, 08 from Poonch, 05 from Reasi and 06 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 8,924 positive cases including 215 deaths and 7,049 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,766 including 99 deaths and 2,159 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,543 including 2,009 recoveries and 48 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,390 including 1,683 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Budgam, 2,254 including 49 deaths and 1,703 recoveries are from Anantnag, 2,056 including 1,312 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,014 cases including 1,336 and 45 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,895 including 1,649 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,678 including 1,542 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Bandipora and 1,266 including 744 recoveries and 19 deaths are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 2,769 including 1,862 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Jammu district, 880 including 762 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Rajouri, 822 including 650 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Kuthua, 778 including 635 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Udhampur, 706 including 508 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Samba, 635 including 628 recoveries and one death are from Ramban, 400 including 333 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Doda, 398 including 318 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Poonch, 364 including 306 recoveries are from Reasi and 216 including 184 recoveries and 01 death are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 450,979 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 44,423 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 7,781 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 355,763 persons have completed surveillance period and 42,334 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 929,733 samples are available.

Out of 929,733, the number of samples tested negative stands at 893,902 while 35,831 have tested positive, among them 7,781 are active and 27,372 persons have recovered. (with inputs from GNS, KNO)
