Anantnag: The Covid-19 patients and their attendants at Government medical college Anantnag alleged that insects were found in the food that was offered to them on Thursday.
Pictures of a meal with insects were shared on social media by netizens while demanding action against the persons involved in the gross negligence.
The group of attendants of over 29 Corona positive patients who are undergoing treatment at GMC Anantnag protested against the authorities while demanding action against the persons involved in preparing the food.
The attendants alleged that food is prepared and later served for days together to the patients who are undergoing treatment at the quarantine centre.
They said that condition of bathrooms is also very unhygienic when authorities have been putting emphasis on hygiene.
Ghulam Nabi, an attendant said that the bathrooms are not cleaned in the Covid ward for days together.
“This negligence can prove to be a source of virus spread as the bathroom is used by attendants as well as by positive patients,” he said.
The attendants demanded that action must be taken against the persons who are preparing the meals for the patients and those who have been tasked to clean the public utility places.
When contacted, Principal Government Medical College Anantnag, Dr Showkat Jeelani said that he has taken notice of the issue and the matter is being investigated.
He assured that action will be taken against the persons involved in any kind of negligence.
