Gujarat Sahitya Akademi honours young poet from Tral
Pulwama: A new breed of younger generation in Kashmir has taken to expressing their feeling through the written word. The past several years has seen the emergence of these young writers who have been able to attract a good number of publishers for their works as well.
Among the new poets Adnan Shafi, hailing from Chandergam village Tral area of Pulwama district was honored recently by Motivational Strips and Gujarat Sahitya Akademi award for his works in the field of literature.
On 74th anniversary of Independence Day of India, ‘Motivational Strips’ being the world’s most active online writers forum and Gujarat Sahitya Akademi being India’s premium literary institution (under the state government of Gujarat) while celebrating the 74th anniversary honoured writers from all over the world including the young poet Adnan Shafi.
He was honoured for his book “Tears fall in my heart” a collection of poems which was published in 2019.
Adnan Shafi said since his school days he was fond of poems and also started writing poems.
He said that his poems have been published in many national and international anthologies and magazine, adding that he has co-authored more than 50 books and is currently, working as an Acquiring Editor for British and USA magazine and as a contributor writer for Nepal online newspaper.
Shafi said that among 350 writers from 80 countries, he too was one among them who got Gujarat akademi certificate.
He thanked his parents and friends for believing in him and allowing him to do in what he was interested in since his childhood.
“The locals of Shafi’s village Chandergam Tral are hailing the achievement of the young poet and are feeling proud of him,” said Mohammad Ashraf , a local resident while adding that Shafi, has become an inspiration for the younger generation in the area.
