Covid-19 claims 17 more lives in JK
16-year old teen, 24-year old among the dead
Srinagar: Two persons aged 16 and 24 years respectively were among 17 more covid-19 positive patients who died since overnight in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the fatality count to 619.
Among those who succumbed to the virus include thirteen from Kashmir Valley including a 56-year-old pharmacist and four others from Jammu division.
Official sources said that a 60-year-old woman from Kishtwar, a 70-year-old man Marh in Jammu district, a 70-year-old man from Samba and a 24-year-old man from Surankote area Poonch died at GMC Jammu where they were admitted.
Regarding the 24-year-old, they said, he was admitted on July 24 and was detected covid-19 positive August 14 and died at 1.30 a.m.
As regards septuagenarian from Jammu, they said, he was suffering from bilateral CAP with acute respiratory distress. “He died at 2.45 a.m.”
Regarding the sexagenarian woman, they said, she was referred from Kishtwar on 21 August to GMC as a case of “covid-19 positive with fever and breathlessness for three days.”
Subsequently, they said, she was diagnosed with bilateral CAP and died at 10.30.p.m last night.
Regarding the 13 deaths from Kashmir Valley, they said, one among them a 79-year-old woman from Kralgund Kupwara died at SKIMS Soura, a day after she was admitted to the hospital.
A 75-year-old man from Bemina Srinagar also died at the hospital, more than two weeks after he was admitted there.
Also, the pharmacist from Ashmuqam area of Anantnag died at the hospital, three days after he was admitted. He was posted at Sub District Hospital Seer Anantnag and had tested positive for the novel coronavirus recently.
A 63-year-old woman from Bemina died at SKIMS Bemina, twelve days after she was admitted to the hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients in the Valley, they said.
A 40-year-old man from Chanapora also died at a hospital here, hours after being admitted and diagnosed with bilateral community acquired pneumonia, they said. “His sample for rapid antigen came positive,” the sources added.
A 16-year-old teenager from Devsar Kulgam died at SKIMS Soura, 20 days after he was admitted, the official sources said.
A 73-year-old-man from Sopore Baramulla, they said, also died at SKIMS Soura, 13 days after he was admitted
An 82-year-old man from Nalabal Nowshera died three days after he was admitted to the hospital, they said.
The other deaths include an 80-year-old man from Alamgari Bazar and a 40- year-old woman from Harwan Sopore, they added.
With these deaths, 574 people in Kashmir Valley and 45 in Jammu division have succumbed to the virus so far.
Meanwhile, 610 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported 610 today taking the total number of positive cases to 31,981.
Of the total positive cases, 31,981 of which 24,987 are Kashmir and 6,994 from Jammu division.
Officials said that among 610 new cases, 492 belong to Kashmir division while as 118 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 24,987 including 18,905 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 6,994 including 5,493 recoveries and 45 deaths.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6,975 including 5,519 from Kashmir division and 1,456 from Jammu division.
With 593 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 24,398 which is 76.28 percent of the total cases.
Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 7,821 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 6,994.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 211 from Srinagar, 20 from Baramulla, 42 from Pulwama, 42 from Budgam, 48 from Anantnag, 17 from Kulgam, 05 from Shopian, 27 from Kupwara, 46 from Bandipora and 34 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 118 from Jammu division include 66 from Jammu, 04 from Rajouri, 12 from Kuthua, 12 from Udhampur, 06 from Samba, 05 from Doda, 06 from Poonch and 07 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
As per officials figures, 7,821 positive cases including 194 deaths and 6,378 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,606 including 93 deaths and 1,950 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,278 including 1,798 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,089 including 1,470 recoveries and 52 deaths are from Budgam, 2,040 including 45 deaths and 1,567 recoveries are from Anantnag, 1,812 including 1,555 recoveries and 31 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,622 cases including 1,488 and 27 deaths are from Shopian, 1,780 including 1,208 recoveries and 41 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,794 including 936 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Bandipora and 1,145 including 555 recoveries and 14 deaths are from Ganderbal.
In Jammu division, 2,262 including 1,599 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Jammu district, 808 including 741 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Rajouri, 718 including 594 recoveries and 01 death are from Kuthua, 705 including 613 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Udhampur, 634 including 608 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 616 including 431 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Samba, 368 including 308 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Doda, 343 including 276 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Poonch, 349 including 153 recoveries are from Reasi and 191 including 170 recoveries are from Kishtwar.
As per the daily information bulletin, 430,647 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 43,363 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 6,975 persons are in isolation. According to the bulletin, 336,753 persons have completed surveillance period and 42,948 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 855,991 samples are available. Out of 855,991 the number of samples tested negative stands at 824,010 while 31,981 have been tested positive, among them 6,975 are active and 24,398 persons have recovered.
