683 fresh cases also reported

Srinagar: A paramilitary CRPF trooper was among nine more persons who succumbed to Covid-19 in Kashmir Valley since overnight, official sources said on Thursday.

With these deaths—three from Srinagar, two from Baramulla and one each from Budgam, Kupwara, Anantnag and Pulwama districts—the fatality count due to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir has rose to 590.

A 70-year-old man from Sopore Baramulla who was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease and bilateral Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) died due to cardiac arrest at 12:50 a.m. at SKIMS Soura where he was admitted since August 9, the official sources said.

They said an 87-year-old from Tral Pulwama, admit on August 11 as a case of bilateral CAP died at SMHS hospital, they said.

Another covid-19 positive patient— a woman from Khanda Budgam, admitted to the hospital on August 17 and diagnosed with bilateral CAP, also succumbed today.

Also, a 50-year-old covid-19 positive trooper from 61 battalion CRPF, Shivpora Srinagar, died few hours after being brought to the hospital in wee hours today, they said. He was resident of Haryana, they added.

An elderly woman from Yunsu Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district having being diagnosed with bilateral community acquired pneumonia died two days after being admitted to the hospital, they said.

A resident of Jawahar Nagar Srinagar, suffering from bilateral CAP, also died at SMHS hospital, the sources said.

A 56-year-old woman from Lal Bazar Srinagar, died three days after she was admitted to CD hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 in the Valley.

“She was a case of severe Covid19 with HTN, T2DM and hypothyroid. She was not maintaining saturation and was shifted to ICU on August 18 and was on NIV since,” a doctor at the hospital said. She suffered cardiac arrest and was declared dead at 2:45p.m, the doctor added.

A 62-year-old man from Gantmulla Baramulla who was diagnosed with “T2DM HTN, CAD besides Pneumonia” died at 8p.m on Thursday evening at SMHS hospital, the sources said.

A 70-year-old woman of Dialgam Anantnag died at SKIMS Soura, three days she was admitted to the tertiary care hospital, they added.

With these deaths, officials said, 590 people have succumbed to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir so far—549 from the Valley and 41 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 683 fresh cases of Covid-19 pandemic including 68 travelers taking the total number of positive cases in the Union Territory to 30717. Of the total cases, 23,955 are from Kashmir and 6,762 are from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 683 new cases, 569 belong to Kashmir division while as 114 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 23,955 including 17,992 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 6,762 including 5,233 recoveries and 41 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6,914 including 5,426 from Kashmir region and 1,488 are from Jammu division. With 728 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 23,225 which is 75.60 percent of the total cases. Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 7,412 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 6,762.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 165 from Srinagar, 22 from Baramulla, 59 from Pulwama, 52 from Budgam, 41 from Anantnag, 06 from Kulgam, 28 from Shopian, 42 from Kupwara, 113 from Bandipora and 41 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 114 from Jammu division include 59 from Jammu, 07 from Rajouri, 14 from Kathua, 16 from Udhampur, 01 from Ramban, 09 from Samba, 02 from Doda, 02 from Poonch and 04 from Reasi”, officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 7,412 positive cases including 185 deaths and 5,963 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,535 including 90 deaths and 1,887 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,205 including 1,766 recoveries and 41 deaths are from Pulwama,1,974 including 1,400 recoveries and 46 deaths are from Budgam, 1,946 including 43 deaths and 1,495 recoveries are from Anantnag, 1,753 including 1,511 recoveries and 31 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,617 cases including 1,458 and 26 deaths are from Shopian, 1,724 including 1,181 recoveries and 39 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,696 including 782 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Bandipora and 1,093 including 549 recoveries and 14 deaths are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 2,133 including 1,437 recoveries and 29 deaths are from Jammu district, 801 including 708 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Rajouri, 695 including 580 recoveries and 01 death are from Kuthua, 680 including 603 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Udhampur, 632 including 601 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 608 including 424 recoveries and 01 death are from Samba, 352 including 302 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Doda, 335 including 262 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Poonch, 340 including 148 recoveries are from Reasi and 186 including 168 recoveries are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 423,481 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 41,798 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 6,914 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 329,688 persons have completed surveillance period and 44,503 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 833,403 samples are available.

Out of 833,403 the number of samples tested negative stands at 802,686 while 30,717 have been tested positive, among them 6,914 are active and 23,225 persons have recovered. (with inputs from GNS, KNO)
