Medical Assistant, Pharmacist diploma holder’s stage protest
Demand their diploma certificates be recognized for registration process
Srinagar: The Medical Assistant and Pharmacist diploma holders in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday staged a protest and demanded that their diploma certificates be recognized for registration of a license and jobs as well.
The protesting aspirants told that earlier they were getting registration under Jammu and Kashmir Pharmacy Council after having Medical Assistant and Pharmacist diploma certificates, but after the abrogation of special status of J&K, there is no state pharmacy council and they are not being considered eligible for registration under the Pharmacy Council of India.
The protesters were raising slogans like ‘we want justice, save our future’ during the protest outside Civil Secretariat Srinagar.
“Most of us belong to poor families and can’t afford additional degrees as we have already spent lakhs of rupees pursuing the diploma and can’t afford more expenses,” said Adnan Shafi Khan, president of the association.
“Our future is at stake,” he said, adding that they have been protesting since the last six months but no one has responded to their demands.
He said that after the State was converted into Union Territory, Medical Assistant diploma registration was excluded in the IPC rules, which brought dark clouds over the future of all diploma holders in J&K.
He said that there are over 20 thousand Medical Assistant aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir and it seems the government is destroying the future of poor medical aspirants.
The Medical Assistant and Pharmacist diploma holders urged the Lt Governor to address the issue and save our future. They also urged Union Health minister to come forward and save the future of over 20 thousand medical aspirants of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNO)
