Anantnag: Residents of Poshkreeri Village of Srigufwara area in south Kashmir’s district is without drinking water supply from the last 20 days.
Locals said that since there has been no rainfall from the last 4 months the water level of the canal from where they were getting water for drinking purposes has decreased.
“This has left the water supply scheme that supplies water to many other villages as well dysfunctional,” they said.
They said that the locals contacted the higher ups to make alternative arrangements till the scheme will be made functional again but our requests have fallen on deaf ears.
They said that from last 20 days, neither any step to make scheme functional was taken nor any other alternative arrangements have been put in place so that locals can get drinking water during these hot summer days.
“We requested them that at least water tankers must be sent to our area but nothing has been done,” said Bashir Ahmad, a local resident.
In absence of water, we are suffering a lot but no heed is being given to our repeated requests, he added.
The locals once again requested the authorities to take immediate steps for restoration of water supply scheme so that the people do not suffer any more.
On contacting executive engineer, PHE division Bijbehara Siraj udin Shah, he said that a team will be deployed there to check ground realities.
He added that water supply will be restored in the area at an earliest.
