DAK meets DHSK, condoles demise of Covid warrior

Srinagar: A delegation of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Tuesday met Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Samir Mattoo and held a condolence meeting for Dr Mohammad Ashraf Mir who died due to coronavirus two days ago.

The delegation was headed by President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik, General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar, Dr Mohammad Ashraf, Dr Arshid H Trag, Dr Mir Mushtaq. Convenor JKDCC, Dr Mohammad Yusuf Tak also attended the meet.

They expressed heartfelt condolence with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. They hailed the contribution of the deceased doctor who was working in District Hospital Pulwama and was infected in the hospital.

DAK demanded that one section of District Hospital Pulwama be named in memory of Dr Mohammad Ashraf Mir as a mark of remembrance for the Covid warrior.

It demanded an additional 50 lakh rupees for nearest kin of his family in addition to the already sanctioned 50 Lacs in analogy with Delhi Government.

The delegation demanded that adequate personal protection equipment (PPE) including N95 masks be provided to all doctors whether they work in COVID or non-COVID areas to decrease the occupational hazard relating to the novel virus.

The doctor’s body also demanded the rational utilization of medical staff so that continuous exposure of doctors working in COVID hospitals is minimized.

DAK also demanded monthly risk allowances apart from creation of doctors welfare fund so that families of deserving medicos are supported whenever such need arises.

In the meeting workload of doctors and paramedics was discussed. DAK said that in district hospital Pulwama six doctors and nearly 20 paramedics have tested positive so far.
