Covid-19: Eight more deaths take death toll to 454 in JK

52 travelers among 473 fresh cases also reported as positive

Srinagar: The deadly pandemic Friday claimed eight more lives including a CRPF man in Kashmir, taking the toll of Covid related deaths in JK to 454.
Officials said that eight persons who died include a 60-year-old woman from Sopore Baramulla, a 55-year-old man from Chersoo Awantipora, a 65-year-old woman from Sarnal Anantnag, a 32-year-old man from Hawal Srinagar, a 46-year-old man from Kokernag Anantnag, a 60-year-old man from HMT Srinagar, a 65-year-old woman from Dalgate Srinagar and a 65-year-old man from Hawal Srinagar
An official from SKIMS said that a 60-year-old woman from Sopore who was admitted on 31 July with hypertension, diabetes, septic shock and bilateral pneumonia died on Thursday evening
He said that a 55-year-old man from Chersoo area of Awantipora who was admitted on 31 July died on Friday.
He further added that a 65-year-old woman from Sarnal Anantnag who was admitted on 06 August also died on Friday
A 32-year-old CRPF man of 179 Battalion posted in Sopore also died at SKIMS who was tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, he said
He added that a 46-year-old man from Kokernag Anantnag who was admitted on 02 August died on Friday.
An official from GMC Srinagar told that a 60-year-old man from HMT Srinagar who was admitted on 03 August died on Friday.
He further added that a 65-year-old woman from Dalgate Srinagar who was admitted on 05 August with bilateral pneumonia, diabetes and other ailments also died on Friday.
An official from CD hospital said that a 65-year-old man from Hawal Srinagar who was admitted at CD hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 died on Friday. He added that his 2nd report came negative, however, report of his third sample is awaited.
With eight more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached to 454 including 420 from Kashmir division and 34 from Jammu division.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 473 fresh cases of deadly virus including 52 travelers taking the total number of positive cases in the Union Territory closer to 24000.
With 473 new cases, the number of positive cases in J&K has reached to 23,927 that include 18,526 from Kashmir and 5,401 from Jammu division.
Officials said that among 473 new cases, 345 belong to Kashmir division while as 128 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 18,526 including 12,707 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 5,402 including 3,511 recoveries and 34 deaths.
The total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 7,260 including 5,404 from Kashmir division and 1,856 from Jammu division.
With 510 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 16,218 which is 67.78 percent of the total cases.
Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 5,822 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 5,401.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 123 from Srinagar, 32 from Baramulla, 26 from Pulwama, 16 from Kulgam, 08 from Shopian, 13 from Anantnag, 24 from Budgam, 28 from Kupwara, 48 from Bandipora and 27 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 128 from Jammu division include 61 from Jammu, 09 from Kuthua, 03 from Rajouri, 01 from Ramban, 23 from Udhampur, 11 from Samba, 03 from Doda, 01 from Poonch and 16 from Reasi, ” officials disclosed.
As per officials figures, 5,822 positive cases including 147 deaths and 3,322 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,073 including 77 deaths and 1,614 recoveries are from Baramulla, 1,769 including 1,024 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Pulwama,1,593 including 1,410 recoveries and 29 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,508 including 24 deaths and 1,286 recoveries are from Shopian, 1,498 including 30 deaths and 1,153 recoveries are from Anantnag, 1,462 including 1,000 recoveries and 34 deaths are from Budgam, 1,209 including 963 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Kupwara, 962 including 601 recoveries and 17 deaths are from Bandipora and 630 including 334 recoveries and 07 deaths are from Ganderbal.
In Jammu division, 1,473 including 747 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Jammu district, 754 including 498 recoveries and 03 death are from Rajouri, 576 including 513 recoveries and 01 death are from Ramban, 574 including 457 recoveries and 01 death are from Kuthua, 618 including 411 recoveries and two deaths are from Udhampur, 478 including 296 recoveries and 01 death are from Samba, 302 including 235 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Doda, 253 including 161 recoveries and 01 death are from Poonch, 214 including 73 recoveries are from Reasi and 159 including 120 recoveries are from Kishtwar.
As per the daily information bulletin, 384,044 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 42,615 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 7,260 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 289,831 persons have completed surveillance period and 43,889 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 695,620 samples are available.
Out of 695,620 the number of samples tested negative stands at 671,693 while as 23,927 have been tested positive, among them 7,260 are active and 16,218 persons have recovered. (KNO)
