Market checking intensified on Eid eve at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal and Director FCS &CA the enforcement wing of FCS & CA headed by AD FCS&CA Dr Naseer Baba along with Revenue,Police, FSO and legal metrology district Ganderbal inspected various markets across the district.
Mutton rates, which have seen unprecedented but artificial rise recently, were made the focus of these inspections. In addition maintaining hygiene and physical distance was strongly ensured.
Two FIRs were also lodged against erring butcher’s for selling mutton on exorbitant rates, Fines were collected from erring shopkeepers and adherence to sale/distribution protocol under Covid response framework was enjoined upon all.
Rotten and unhygienic food items was destroyed on the spot, reports said.
Such measures from the administration are driven by fact that these will deter unscrupulous elements from exploiting the situation, an official of the administration said.
Meanwhile, SSP Ganderbal advised people to avoid visiting parks and gardens on Eid eve.
SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal urged the people of Ganderbal to avoid Eid al-Adha congregational prayer in Eidgahs and mosques and do pray at home in view of rising COVID-19 positive cases in Ganderbal.
“Eid al-Adha is special festival for us and I wish everyone a happy and prosperous Eid. While celebrating the festival we have to take some necessary precautions amid the pandemic Mass gathering like Eid congregational prayers are not allowed in Eidgahs and mosques. The precaution is necessary to keep us safe from deadly COVID-19 infection” SSP said.
“Section 144 is already in place along Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal. People who will try to hold Eid congregational prayers in Eidgahs and mosques will be strictly dealt with according to the law” he said.
SSP added that people should avoid visiting parks and sindh sight scenes. They want to ensure everyone’s safety and any misadventure in this regard will not be tolerated.
