Three families illegally occupy road in Kulgam village, locals demand action
Kulgam: Three families have allegedly blocked a road which connects over 50 families in Kulgam village by illegally occupying a portion of the road near their residential houses.
Locals said that they have blocked a pathway passing adjacent to their residential houses in Danow village of Kulgam district due to which the residents of Sheikhpora have no alternative road through which they can go to the main road.
They added that families have not restored the road despite repeated notices from concerned authorities to these families for removing the road blocks that have been raised.
They added that RDD department started construction work of a new road from Sheikh Mohalla to Wazirpora along the bank of the canal and asked locals to cut down trees as the land falling adjacent to the canal is government property.
The locals said that almost all the families adhered to the instructions however, some of the families did not listen to the advisory rather they are creating hurdles for the project.
Pertinently, the road was approved by DDC Kulgam on 11 November last year after locals had requested for the construction of the road in back to village programme and the estimated cost of the road was 7.5 lakh.
“We have approached concerned authorities several times to take action against these families, however so far nothing has been done,” said a local.
On contacting Naib Tehsildar Qaimoh who was asked to frame ground report of the road confirmed that some families have blocked the road.
“We have forwarded the report to ADC Kulgam,” the official added.
Meanwhile, Tehsildar Qaimoh in his official communiqué to ADC Kulgam, has also mentioned that these families have blocked the pathway under survey no 503 passing adjacent to their residential houses and they were directed to restore the said pathway.
He has also mentioned that these families first agreed to cut down their trees for the construction of road from Sheikhpora to Wazirpora, however, they later retrieved from their commitments.
