Schools body, NGO collaborate to distribute free face masks
Srinagar: As part of its efforts to fight the spread of COVID virus, Moral Education Environment & Relief Council of Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (MEERC) and Kashmir Welfare Trust has joined hands with NGO Care Kashmir for a major free face mask distribution campaign which will start on July 28.
The Association hailed the initiative of Care Kashmir for distributing free mask to public and expressed its happiness to be part of it.
“The most important way by which we can arrest the spread of this disease is by popularizing the use of face mask. It has been made mandatory but people still don’t use masks. Not only do we need to make them available freely but also educate people about the benefits of using the mask,” said Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, Chairman MEERC & KWT.
“As part of our service, we have decided to join the face mask distribution campaign of Care Kashmir. We will start the campaign by organising a distribution camp at our head office behind Civil Secretariat (Opp. Hotel Broadview) Srinagar.”
The Association will freely distribute the face masks to people on July 28 at Karan Nagar. The campaign will be further expanded depending on the demand.
“We feel that government alone cannot fight this battle. It is the joint effort of all the sections of the society which can bear fruit,” said G N Var, President PSAJK
“Every day the cases are increasing and our health sector is crumbling. Face mask is the best way to prevent spread of COVID. If we don’t use such precautionary measure, the future can be scary.”
The Association has invited number of eminent personalities at the event which will be inaugurated by Senior Counsel Zaffar Shah, who is also Vice President of Care Kashmir NGO.
