Man arrested for murdering his wife in Kangan

Kangan: Police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife in Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Notably, police last week fished out a dead body of 30-year-old Rubeena Jan, wife of Abdul Majeed Khan of Gonchi Mohalla Akhal Kangan from Nallah Sindh.
Soon after the incident, police registered a case and started investigations into the case.
Police sources said that during the course of investigation, the husband of the deceased woman confessed to his crime and said that he killed his wife because of her having an extra marital affair.
“The husband of the woman during questioning claimed that it was the doubtful character of her wife which forced him to kill her and he took the help of his brother for the crime,” police sources said, adding that both the husband and his brother have been arrested.
The accused during questioning also claimed that he murdered her wife three days before dumping her in Nallah Sindh as she had an extra marital affair with a man in West Bengal.
The deceased was resident of Bengal and the accused had married her before bringing her to Kashmir.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections in this regard.
SSP Ganderbal , Khalil Poswal in a tweet hailed the efforts of SDPO and SHO Kangan.
“At Police Station Kangan a drowning case of a lady namely Rubeena w/o Abdul Majid Khan has been worked as murder to have committed by her husband,” SSP tweeted.
