Four years on, Sangam-Srigufwara road awaits completion

PHE, PDD depts not cooperating, says R&B officials

Pulwama: Even after elapsing of four years, the vital Sangam-Srigufwara road awaits completion even though locals claim to face immense hardships due to the bad condition of the road.
Residents of different areas of Dachnipora belt said that they were thankful to R&B for constructing and widening this road but some patches have been left as they were which needs immediate attention.
They said out of 25 Kms, 16 have been macadamised already last year but around 9 Kms of the road length is yet to be black topped which is giving quite a trouble to the commuters.
They said this road was approved in year 2016 and since then R&B department has worked tirelessly and completed most part of it but some parts falling in areas like Marhama, Nowshera and Sirgufwara which need to be macadamised at an earliest.
Looks appealed the higher authorities to look into the issue at an earliest and repair the left out stretches.
Pertinently, the completion of road will reduce the distance by several kilometers for those who intend to visit famous tourist destination Pahalgam.
A senior official of R&B department when contacted said that PHE and PDD departments are not cooperating with them.
He said that only those parts of the road are yet to be macadamised where PHE department hasn’t shifted pipeline and PDD department has not bothered to shift electric poles which are still located on the roads.
He said that once poles and pipes will be shifted, R&B department will initiate the rest of the pending work.
