Pulwama: The Wahibugh-Arbal road in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is in dilapidated condition making it inconvenient for commuters to travel on the road.
Local residents said that the road from Wahibugh-Arbal via Tiken is in a very bad shape as the road has not been macadamised since the past 12 years.
The dilapidated condition of the road is giving tough time to the local residents as well as to those who happen to travel using the road.
Locals alleged that government has been ignoring this important road since decades.
“This all important road has not been macadamised for more than a decade now. Though various other roads which are of least importance have been upgraded and maintained,” Mohammad Yusuf, a local resident said.
He said that he alongwith various locals have several times met district officials and sought repairs of the road.
“No attempt was made to get the road repaired and our requests have fallen on deaf ears,” Mohammad Sultan, another resident said.
“Apart from being dotted with potholes the road is so narrow at some places that even two light motor vehicles cannot pass at the same time,” he said.
Locals demanded that the officials of the district administration must get the road upgraded and repaired.
Meanwhile, Executive Engineer R&B division Pulwama, M Yousuf Tramboo, said that he will look into the grievance of the locals.
He assured that road will be macadamised/repaired on priority basis.
