Gunfight breaks out in Srigufwara Anantnag
Srinagar, July 13: A Fierce gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Srigufara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.
According to reports, a joint team of Police, Army’s 03 RR and E/116 of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Srigufara.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
A senior police officer confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
Pertinently, 128 militants have been killed so far in the valley this year.(GNS)
