Shootout in Srinagar: Para Military trooper, ISJK commander killed

Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and ISJK commander were killed in a nocturnal encounter that raged between forces and militants in Malbagh area of Srinagar outskirts, late on Thursday night, police said Friday.
A gunfight raged between militants and security forces at 10:30 pm at Malbagh, Srinagar. In the initial encounter, two CRPF men sustained injuries, of which once succumbed on the way to the hospital.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said that a CRPF man, who had sustained injuries in the initial exchange of firing, got killed.
“A militant commander from ISJK, Zahid Das who was involved in a series of incidents including killing of police and CRPF men besides weapon snatching was killed. He was also involved in the killing of a minor boy and a CRPF man at Bijbehara recently,” he told reporters.
The IGP said that two ISJK militants and aides of Zahid were earlier killed and two more are still active.
Taking over to the official twitter handle of police, IGP Kumar wrote:”#Killer of JKP & CRPF personnel at #Bijbehara #Anantnag and one 6 years old boy, #militant Zahid Daas killed in yesterday’s #encounter at #Srinagar. Big success for JKP & CRPF”
Inspector General of CRPF Srinagar sector, Pramod Kumar Pandey said that a CRPF man was killed in the initial exchange of fire. (with inputs from KNO)
