Infiltration bid foiled in Rajouri, militant killed
Rajouri: Army on Wednesday claimed to have foiled an infiltration attempt by killing a militant in Keri area of Bhimber Gali Sector in Rajouri district.
“Based on specific intelligence inputs from J&K Police, a joint operation was launched close to Line of Control in Keri area of Bhimber Gali Sector in District Rajouri,” an army spokesman said in a statement.
“(Militants) were seen crossing the Line of Control and the alert troops of Indian Army foiled the infiltration bid resulting in killing of one (militant),” the spokesman said, adding, “One AK-47 with two magazines (was) recovered. The search operation is in progress.”
Meanwhile, the gunfight that broke out between militants and security forces at Bilalabad area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday evening, was called off after militants managed to give slip to the forces.
An official said that after exchange of fire between government forces and militants on Tuesday evening, search operation continued in the area till Wednesday afternoon. However, no contact was established with the militants.
