Growing scare of COVID-19 positive cases in Sopore, DC orders complete lockdown

Sopore, June 27: Restrictions and a complete lockdown has been imposed in north Kashmir’s Sopore area following a spurt in the number of Covid-19 cases.
In Sopore markets were complete shut and public transport was off the roads, with only pharmacies allowed to open.
Security forces have sealed off the main roads in most places of the town and installed barriers to enforce lockdown, officials said
Notably, DDC Baramulla in a statement said that, In view of yesterday’s 25 positive cases from service providers of Sopore market, it has become exceedingly imperative to go for a massive sanitation drive in whole markets and public places which is not possible while shops are open and vendors are on roads.
As agreed by stakeholders and in the larger interest of people, it is hereby ordered that there shall be complete lockdown enforcement in Sopore town from Saturday, he added.
