Five militant associates linked to LeT held
Srinagar: Five militant associates linked to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) have been arrested in Budgam district, police said on Thursday.
A police official said the five were arrested from Narbal area of the district.
Incriminating documents, arms and ammunition have been seized from them. A case has been registered and an investigation is on, the official added.
Meanwhile, security forces busted three active hideouts of militants and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition on Thursday in Shopian in south Kashmir, where more than 30 militants, including some commanders, were killed in different operation during this month.
Defence ministry spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that based on inputs about militant hideouts at Yarwan, Shopian, in south Kashmir security forces today launched a search operation.
He said during the operation security forces unearthed three hideouts—one major and two minor—and a huge cache of arms and ammunition besides administrative stores, including personnel dairy were recovered.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, he said.
