Anantnag: The dilapidated condition of important Qaimoh-Pahloo road in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district is annoying the local residents.
While showing concern over the deplorable condition of the road, the residents of Qaimoh, Motalhama, Chadder, Khrewan, Bhan, Gund, Mirpora, Ashmuji, Kantchowa, Bemdora, Checkpora, Brazloo, Pahloo and its adjacent areas said the road is in very bad condition and no attention is being provided towards repairing of the road.
The road is in a bad condition since five years and has developed muddy potholes making commuting an arduous job, the locals said.
They said that the local administration has failed to take any initiative for the maintenance and upkeep of this vital road link.
“The authorities started widening of the road two years back but since then the maintenance of the road has gone for a toss and the authorities have forgotten to even maintain the road,” said Mohammad Shafi, a local resident.
“At some places the road is in such a bad condition that even vehicles fail to pass over it,” said Gulzar Ahmad, another local.
He said that authorities haven’t also compensated those whose land was taken for the widening of the road.
The locals urged the concerned authorities to expedite the construction work on the road so that the people do not suffer anymore.
On contacting Executive Engineer PMGSY Kulgam, Farooq Ahmad Mantoo, he said that the road will be macadamised in coming days.
He further added that after revenue department will forward details of land owners, they will be compensated accordingly.
