Several villages without drinking water in Pulwama

Pulwama: Residents of several villages of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday alleged that their areas have been facing acute shortage of potable water.
The villagers said that they are without drinking water supply from last many days due to which they are facing various problems.
Residents of Litter Tehsil and its adjacent areas said that they are without water supply from last many days and they locals have been compelled to consume water running in the local canals.
“Water supply scheme was functioning normally, however, suddenly our water supply line got disconnected and we have been left without drinking water,” said a villager.
Locals said that they approached the concerned authorities but their assurances have fallen flat on ground.
They locals requested top officials of the concerned departments to look into the issue at an earliest and restore the water supply line so that the people can heave a sigh of relief.
An official from PHE department (Jal Shakti) said that there was need of an immediate repair work at litter due to which water supply remained affected in the areas.
He said that water tankers are being sent to every area where supply remained cut off in during the past few days.
He said that the repair work is almost complete and by Wednesday evening the people will be getting regular water supply.
