LAWDA resumes dredging of Brari Numbal Lagoon

SRINAGAR: Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) resumes dredging of Brari Numbal Lagoon in Shahr-e-.Khass after getting suspended due to the spread of Covid-19.
The Vice Chairman, LDA Tufail Matto flanked by engineering wing team today took stock of the works under execution on his visit to Lagoon.
He said around 20,000 Cums are expected to be dredged out in order to deepen the lagoon and restore water quality, besides this several developmental works are also in progress for its beautification vis-à-vis walk way around lagoon for walkers, tourists and additional facility of kiosks and jetties.
Mattoo said to further beautify the lagoon, Footpath for pedestrian, Food Street, Ornamental Street lights, fountains and solid waste management by providing dustbins around the lagoon is being taken up under AMRUT and PMDP.
The dredging of its feeding channels stands almost completed and the shoreline of lagoon has been developed by way of toe and retaining walls and also, the premises of famous Mangleshwar Bhairav Temple Namchabal Babademb Feteh Kadal, inside the lagoon have been fenced, he added.
