Troops conduct searches in forest areas in Dachigam
Srinagar, June 15: Combined Forces have launched a nocturnal search operation in the upper reaches of Dachigam area of Srinagar outskirts after reports about the movement of militants.
Reliable sources said that forces have cordoned off Mahadve, Burzwas and Babrobao ridges adjacent to Dachigam National Park. The search operation was under way till the filing of this report.
Sources said that these areas were brought under siege during the intervening night of June 14 and 15 after forces received inputs about the movement of militants.
Sources added that Choppers and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) were pressed into service to track down the militants. Though the search operation continues, but no contact has been established with militants so far.
Meanwhile, a nocturnal cordon and search operation was launched in Kamrazipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Locals said that search operation started at around 1 in the night and culminated at 12 on Monday afternoon.
“JCB was used to dig suspected places, however, nothing was found,” said a local. This was the second search operation in the area from last 2 days. (KNT)
