Pulwama: Several vital roads in Pulwama district are in dilapidated condition making the life of commuters miserable.
Residents of various areas of Pulwama in south Kashmir said that the most of the roads in the district area are in dilapidated condition as they have not be repaired since long.
The residents of Naina-Pulwama and adjoining areas said that this 25 kilometer long road is in dilapidated condition leaving thousands of people to suffer badly.
They said the road connects dozens of villages with the National highway and the road has not been repaired or upgraded since the last ten years.
The residents of the area alleged that they have appealed the authorities several times for widening the road and macadamizing it for ensuring smooth flow of traffic but so far noting has been done.
Residents of Pampore-Pulwama also said the main road in the area is in shambles and most part of it has not been repaired since many years by the authorities.
The locals here also appealed the authorities to repair the roads in the area at an earliest.
They said it is right time to macadmaise these roads as presently the roads are witnessing fewer vehicles plying on them owing to the Covid-19 lockdown.
They further added that most of roads were left without macadamisation after Abrogation of Article 370 on August 05.
On contacting Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings division Pulwama Mohammed Yousuf Tramboo, said that both roads will be macadamised this year.
He said that work has been already started at some places but due to the dearth of labours this year, the firms are not able to carry out repair works at many sites at a time.
He assured that work on these roads will start in the coming days.
