Baramulla, June 12: The armies of India and Pakistan on Friday morning exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector, officials said.

Officials said that Pakistan Army on Friday morning resorted to unprovoked shelling along the LoC in Northern Kashmir’s Uri sector in Baramulla district.

“Pakistani Army used heavy mortar shelling and targeted check posts in Hajipeer sector and other posts in Baramulla district on Friday morning,” they said, adding that Indian Army retaliated befittingly.

The exchange of gunfire was going on when the report was last filed.

However, panic gripped the nearby villagers due to border shelling.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom said that shelling is going on in four villages of Uri including Churanda, Hathlanga, Gowhalan and Hajipeer.

However, no reports about injuries or causalities were reported so far, he said. (KNO)
