Srinagar: Authorities on Wednesday filed the protest demonstration of Jammu and Kashmir Casual Daily Wagers Forum (JKCDWF) and detained at least two dozen leaders after they started a 36-hour-long protest to press for their demands.

Sajad Ahmad Parray said that though the Prime Minister Narendra Modi after August 5 decision made tall claims regarding the employees especially for casual and daily wagers, but on ground, the situation is contrary as the administration headed by Lieutenant Governor is taking anti-people decisions.
“We were hoping for favorable decisions from the administration. But, the recent decision like announcing Class IV employees recruitment through the Service Selection Board has punctured all our hopes as well as the promises done with the employees,” he said.
He demanded immediate fulfillment of their demands including regularization of all the casual and daily wagers who are serving different departments since the last over two decades and also the implementation of minimum wages act.
Parray further stated that they had organized a 36-hour-long protest from Wednesday to press for their demands.
However, soon after the leadership of the forum began its strike and reached Srinagar’s Press Enclave, police swung into action and detained at least two dozen leaders who were part of the protest.
Notably, this was the first protest demonstration since August 5 last year when all sort of protests were declared as unlawful. (KNO)
