Div Com pays surprise visit to Super Specialty Hospital in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole paid a surprise visit to Government Super Specialty Hospital Srinagar, with the view to take stock of the facilities made availiable thier by the authorities of GMC Srinagar to deal with the COVID- 19 patients.
Principal/ Dean, GMC Srinagar, Professor (Dr) Samia Rashid apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the functioning of the hospital with respect to patient care and administration of Chemotherapy, Cardiac and Gastroenterological procedures carried out in the hospital alongwith the Dialysis facility available for chronic Kidney patients. She also invited the attention of the visitor towards the Ontological Surgeries which are being carried out in the hospital without any break even during the turbulent times of COVID-19.
The Div Com was informed about the measures undertaken for sanitation standards of the wards and practice of environmental sampling upon the report of Covid-19 +ve cases in the hospital.
The Divisional Commissioner also visited the out patients’ department of hospital and interacted with the medical and Paramedical staff.
The Div Com impressed upon the hospital authorities to follow the guidelines issued by the union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, in letter and spirit especially during these emergent conditions of COVID-19. He emphasis upon maintenance of physical distance in laboratories/ wards of the hospital and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
While lauding the role of Medical and Paramedical staff in fighting Covid-19, the Div Com urged them to work with more zeal, compassion and dedication while treating the patients.
The Div Com also visited the Mini Maternity Centre (MMC) Wayil Ganderbal, designated as Covid Care Centre for conduct of surgeries and treatment of Covid-19 positive and suspected pregnant women of the district.
During the visit, Div Com took firsthand appraisal of facilities available there, he took stock of medical equipments, protective gears, electricity, water, bedding and other related facilities.
The Div Com directed the CMO Ganderbal to make all necessary arrangements at the earliest so that the hospital is made operational by or before mid-June for conducting necessary treatment and surgeries of the pregnant women testing positive for covid-19 infection.
While discussing about the availability of staff for the hospital, Div Com asked the CMO that dedicated medical and paramedical staff should be deployed for making the hospital operational round the clock.
He also stressed for ensuring the availability of all protective gears including PPE kits, gloves, masks, hand sanitizers and other medical equipments for the safety of the concerned.
The Div Com said that the facility will go a long way in avoiding un-necessary referrals to other maternity hospitals of the valley and delaying treatment of positive ladies of the district besides the treatment and surgeries for positive pregnant ladies will be conducted in complete observance of medical protocol.
During the visit the Div Com was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, CMO Ganderbal besides other officials from health department.
