South Kashmir, a ‘hotspot’ for Covid-19
Around 35 percent of positive cases in JK are from the area
Anantnag: Around 35 percent cases of Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir have been reported in four districts in South Kashmir.
As per official figures, out of 2718 total cases in J&K, 933 were reported in Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts which is 34.33 percent of the total cases in Jammu and Kashmir.
In Kashmir division alone there are 2076 total cases and among them 933 have been reported from South Kashmir which is 44.95 percent of the total cases.
In Anantnag district there are 349 positive cases highest in J&K including 26 travellers besides 126 recoveries and 5 deaths.
Pertinently, Anantnag district was the last district in Kashmir division to register a positive case on April 16 and in just 40 days the district has highest number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir.
In Kulgam district there are 311 positive cases among them 210 are travelers besides that 32 are have recovered and 4 persons have died. The district has highest number of active positive cases in J&K-275.
Officials from the district said that around seven thousand travelers from different areas have returned due to which cases have surged in the area.
Shopian district has 181 total positive cases including 18 travellers besides 108 recoveries and 3 death.
More than 50 cases were reported in Hirpora village of the district, however, all those patients have recovered.
In Pulwama, there are 92 positive cases including 38 travelers besides that 13 patients have recovered.
Notably, Pulwama district was declared covid-19 free after all patients from the district had recovered last month however, cases started to surge again and there are over a dozen red zones in the district.
