Admin taking extra measures to contain COVID-19 Pandemic: DDC Kulgam
KULGAM: Having experienced a surge in the number of Corana positive cases the district administration Kulgam are taking exrtra measures to contain and manage the spread of Corona infection, as of now the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in district Kulgam is 227 with 22 recoveries and 3 deaths.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Kulgam with 03 covid-19 isolation wards, 01 covid-19 centre, 7 hospital quarantine centers and 12 covid19 wellness/care centers, the District has put in place satisfactory infrastructure for remedial measures.
He said that the sudden surge can be accounted to a large influx of returnees from other parts of India to the district. He said that as many as 6000 UT returnees has reported in the district out of which 202 are currently under administrative quarantine and remaining released for home quarantine after having been tested and declared negative.
Pertinent to mention here that among the UT returnees the number of positive cases is 81. A total of 5803 tests have been conducted at DH Kulgam and more than 7000 tests have been conducted at Udhampur ,Channani, Samba, and Jammu of UT returnees. The contact tracing of 2013 persons have been already done.
The Deputy Commissioner Showkat Aijaz Bhat asserted that the administration is trying to ensure minimum collateral damage to people on account of COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that people are been furnished with regular supplies of food, water and medicine besides benefits to the target groups through various centrally and UT sponsored welfare schemes. Detailing out the measures the DC Said that under NFSA 42848 under JKFES 4000 AND PMGKAY 25656 quintals of rice have been distributed amongst the rationees of the district apart from this 26504 LPG refills have been distributed.
Making sure that the district is cent percent masked a total of 299907 masks (surgical, reusable cotton) have been prepared and distributed by involving PRIS to carry out the task in a smooth manner.
Further payments have been made through DBT mode for various beneficiary schemes, minority scholarship schemes which includes pre matric, post matric and merit cum means scholarship.
The DC said that there are a total of 27 Red Zones in the district with adjoining buffer zones and in every buffer zone various officials have been posted whose phone number already stands notified and these officials are assigned with the task of making sure the availability of essential commodities and medicines in the Red/Buffer zones. Further the ACD and DPO have been tasked to make wide publicity and encourage people to download Aarogya Setu App.
For extending the money transition facilities to the people inhabiting the red zones/buffer zones, banking correspondents have been deputed to such zones.
The Deputy Commissioner said that taking into consideration the needs of the farmers, various Agricultural as well as Horticultural inputs have been made available and regular market checks are being carried out to ensure adherence of various guidelines for the said purpose.
The Deputy Commissioner has urged the populace of Kulgam to extend their support and cooperation in tacking the CoViD-19 pandemic and said that without their support the problem would remain half tackled. At the same time the DC has asked all the Govt. officials assigned with management CoVID-19 to serve with full passion and dedication and resist from making half measures.
