JAMMU, MAY 28:  The Administrative Council (AC) which met here under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu, gave a go ahead to the recruitment of 2000 Panchayat Accounts Assistants.

The decision of the AC will strengthen the functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions. The recruitment to these posts will be restricted to the Domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir and shall be done in accordance to relevant recruitment rules.

The selection will be made through Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB), on the basis of merit determined through a written test only. There shall be no interviews in the recruitment process to these posts of Panchayat Accounts Assistants.

With enhancement in responsibilities of Panchayats and significant increase in devolution of funds to these local government bodies, posting of the Panchayat Accounts Assistants will help in proper maintenance of accounts and booking of expenditure in Panchayats.

Meanwhile, the government said it has decided to approve J&K Appointment to Class IV (special Recruitment)Rules, 2020 to lay down quick and simple procedure for filling up of 7052 Class IV vacancies identified by Accelerated Recruitments Committee.

Addressing reporters, Principal Secretary PDD and Information Rohit Kansal said that the decision in this regard has been taken in Administrative Council meeting held under the chairmanship of Lt. Gov G C Murmu.

“It also follows the decision of government to notify over 10,000 posts for Accelerated Recruitment,” Kansal, who is also government spokesman, said.

Flanked by Director Information Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Kansal said that marks obtained in written test will have primacy in selection.

“There will be no interview and no documents including Domicile certificate required to be submitted at the time of filling application form,” he said.

Additional weightage of 5 marks shall be given to widows, divorced and judicially separated women, orphan girls and those with no family member in government service and daily wagers engaged for atleast 5 years. “5 years age relaxation will be also given to daily wagers,” he added.
