Pulwama: Police registered a formal case after combined forces claimed to have busted a hideout in a shop owned by a government official in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Official sources said that soldiers from 44 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group personnel from Jammu and Kashmir police after receiving inputs, searched the house of a Naib Tehsildar in Pulwama.
The search party claimed to have busted an underground militant hideout under one of the shops belonging to the official.
The official has been identified as Naib Tehsildar Nazir Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Ahad Wani, a resident of Belov Pulwama.
A police official while confirming the incident said that a formal FIR vide number 39/2020 under section 18, 19, 39 has been registered at Police Station Rajpora. He said that investigation is going on and no arrests have been made so far.
When asked what has been recovered from the hideout, he said that the hideout has been busted and the same has been used by militants.
Divulging information about the Naib Tehsildar in question, police sources said that he is paternal uncle of slain militant Liyaqat Ahmad Wani of Belov Rajpora and also one of his brothers Muneer Ahmad Wani was also a militant.
Muneer was killed in a gunfight in year 1996. (KNT)
