Srinagar, May 19: Mobile telephones, sans state owned BSNL, and internet services were suspended on Tuesday morning after a gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Old city area of Kanimazaar.

Reports said that all outgoing and incoming calls on all networks except state owned BSNL were barred after the encounter broke out.

Notably, mobile internet services and voice calls were suspended on 6th of May last week after prominent militant commander Riyaz Naikoo was killed by security forces in South Kashmir on Wednesday last.

Even though the Kashmir is under the coronavirus lockdown from last 60 days, additional police and paramilitary forces personnel have been deployed in many sensitive and vulnerable areas in Srinagar, reports added.
