Gunfight breaks out in old city area of Srinagar
Srinagar, May 19: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Nawakadal area of Srinagar district on Tuesday.
Reports said that a joint team of Police and CRPF launched cordon search operation in Nawakadal, Kanimazar area.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between forces and militants. However, he said that after initial firing the gunfire has stopped. More details will follow.(GNS)
