Budgam: Two doctors and four others staffers in Sub-District Hospital Chadoora were on Saturday moved to quarantine, a day after a woman from Gudsutoo area of Budgam tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The woman had visited the health facility and these two doctors and the other staffers had come in touch with the woman before she visited a Srinagar hospital where she was advised surgery by the doctors. The tests came to be conducted on her as part of the processes before any surgery.
Before any procedure on patients, test for covid-19 is mandatory. Any surgery on a covid-19 patient could prove disastrous given the fact operation theatre is the most vulnerable place as a lot of aerosol is generated there and virus can spread manifold, officials said.
Sources said that the SDH Chadoora has also restricted the entry of patients to the hospital following the development and more measures aimed at containing the virus are being conducted.
A senior doctor confirmed that the doctors and the staffers have been moved to quarantine. However, CMO Budgam could not be contacted despite attempts. (GNS)
