Bandipora: Hundreds of stranded students and patients from border Gurez region are up in arms against Bandipora district administration for not allowing them to leave for their native place.
Scores of these people staged a protest against district administration outside DC office Bandipora and alleged that authorities are showing callousness towards their plight.
“Earlier District Administration Bandipora issued an order stating that in wake of Covid-19 threat, first employees and patients from Gurez stuck in Valley will be allowed to go to Gurez and after sometime, the students and others can visit their native places. Two days after the order, the administration backtracked and rescinded the order,” the protesters said adding that they are facing tremendous hardships.
The stranded passengers, including patients and students, said they are stuck in different parts of Kashmir Valley but are not getting any assistance from authorities.
The protesters demanded that they should be airlifted or allowed to visit Gurez by road. “Why we have been stopped here and not allowed to move on. This is ridiculous,” said a protesting student. (KNT)
