50000 students out of 61000 connected to online classes
BUDGAM: Amid fears of spread of Covid-19, schools in Budgam like other parts of J&K were closed temporary since lockdown was enforced on March- 21, however; soon District Administration along with CEO’s office pulled up socks and started reaching students through online classes across the district.
As a matter of proud and appreciation, District Administration through all 13 education zones of the district has been successful in linking 50000 students out of total enrolled 61000 students in government schools who are being imparted education through online classes on daily basis.
Various measures are also been taken for those students mostly from Gujjar-Bakerwal community who do not have access to education through online mode shall be given android phones and linked as soon as possible. Under SAMAGRA, 110 android phones have been already procured and distribution of same among these students has been initiated.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai said that there has been tremendous response from the student community who have shown keen interest in joining online classes, started in the district soon after lockdown enforced by the government. He said that over 90 per cent schools have been connected and 73 per cent teaching faculty has been involved in the process conducting these classes from 8 am to 10 in the night.
Not only this, through DIET Budgam assignments up to 8th standard have been made available to all students at their door steps while examination for unit-i and unit-ii have also been conducted by teachers in Budgam. Now the process for term-1st examination is in progress and following social distancing protocol in letter and spirit, the teachers visit house to house to take examination so as to avoid gathering. There are 785 schools out of all 966 educational.
Institutions which are linked presently and out of total 6223 faculties of lecturers, masters and teachers 4579 faculty members are involved in virtual classes, imparting education to students. Private coaching institutions in district are also contributing by providing online education to student during covid-19 pandemic.
Expressing satisfaction over online mode of teaching through zoom classes, video lecturing, wise conferencing and other online classes Chief Education Officer, Budgam Fatima Tak is all upbeat about the progress and Budgam being on top in linking highest number of students for what she says that Budgam has got appreciation from higher ups at many a times also.
“All efforts are being taken to cover 100 per cent student community through online classes so that our education sector flourishes during all adversities. We have qualified teachers who all have been put on job to ensure every student is connected and gets education,” CEO said. Adding she said that private schools which have not been able to conduct online classes were also being roped in to ensure every student is connected.
On mid-day meals, the district has also achieved remarkable progress with providing dry ration through home delivery to 45000 students up to June-15 in advance. Arrangements for providing students cooking cost have also been made and same shall be directly credited in their account numbers.
