Govt withdraws order appointing B R Sharma as JKPSC head

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government has deleted order from its website on the appointment of former Chief Secretary of the erstwhile J&K state Braj Raj Sharma as chairman of the J&K Public Service Commission.
Sources said that the government has actually withdrawn the order as Sharma was on April 20 this year re-employed as the chairman of Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for two more years, up to April 30, 2022, post his retirement last month.
“In exercise of powers conferred by Section 93 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, and S.O. 3937 (E) dated 31st October, 2019, read with Order issued in terms of sub¬clause (i) of clause (c) of the Proclamation issued by the President dated 31st October, 2019, the Lieutenant Governor of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to appoint Mr B. R. Sharma, IAS (Retd.), as Chairman, Public Service Commission for the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He shall hold the position of the Chairman, Public Service Commission, till he attains the age of sixty-two years,” read an order issued by the government which has been now deleted from the official website. (GNS)
