Srinagar, May 7: IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar on Thursday said that the restrictions on movement and internet and phones were necessary to maintain law & order situation in Kashmir.

Talking to Media, the IGP said that the decision will be reviewed as the situation improves.

He said that Security forces launched 27 operations and killed 64 militants since January this year in Jammu & Kashmir.

“25 active militants were arrested. Police were searching for slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo for the past 6 months and on Wednesday we achieved success by killing him,” he said.

After the Riyaz Naikoo encounter there was law and order situation at the site. Few people have been injured some of them have bullet injuries, said IGP. (With GNS inputs)
