Pesky power cuts irks Pulwama, Budgam residents
Pulwama: Power Development Department (PDD) is restoring to unscheduled power cuts in different areas of Pulwama and Budgam districts due to which locals have threatened to hit the roads.
Unscheduled power cuts besides still adhering to the winter power schedule in the area has evoked strong resentment from the locals.
“The unscheduled power cuts have left us distressed,” said Younis Ahmad a resident of Mitrigam Pulwama, adding that they are still receiving power supply as per the winter schedule.
After every two hours of power supply, the power is snapped for longer breaks.
“Even if the power is supplied still frequent power cuts have made our lives miserable during the month of Ramazan,” he added.
The locals complained that power cuts in those areas Pulwama and Budgam which are receiving supply from receiving station Mitrigam is at least 16 to 18 hours per day.
They said that unscheduled power cuts have made their life miserable and this is for the first time that summer has already made its presence felt here and we are getting power supply according to the winter schedule.
The worst affected villages, according to locals are Mitrigam, Murran, Rohmoo, Mirgund, Thokerpora, Fresipora, Pakherpora and its adjacent areas.
They said that they brought this issue in notice of concerned officers so many times but so far nothing has been done on ground.
They requested Chief Engineer Power Development Corporation to look into the matter and redress the issue at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
On contacting Executive Engineer Power Development Corporation division Pulwama Nazir Ahmad Malik, he said “the curtailment of the station is looked after by STD division Pulwama. We are forced to provide power supply as per the winter schedule as Lassipora grid has some issues”.
He assured that schedule will be revised very soon.
