Students stranded in Jaipur demand evacuation

Pulwama/Anantnag: Dozens of Kashmiri students stranded in Jaipur Rajasthan due to the coronavirus lockdown have urged the J&K administration to evacuate them as they are facing various problems.
A group of students told over phone that they have been stranded in Jaipur from last two months and now desperately want to return home.
Josfeena Bashir, a PhD student said that she along with dozens of students was stranded since the lockdown was imposed across India.
“We are running out of resources and it is very difficult to stay back under these circumstances,” she said.
She said the prolonged lockdown was taking a toll on their mental health and they were suffering from depression and anxiety.
“We are around 60-70 students stranded in several areas of Jaipur. J&K administration should evacuate us as our families are also suffering a mental agony,” she said.
Another stranded student Sahil Mir said that they had been trying to contact various helpline numbers and emails issued by the J&K administration but had not received any response so far.
“J&K administration should evacuate us as we are facing problems on a daily basis. We are running short of money and other resources,” he said.
He said their families had become anxious about their safety and health.
“We are on the verge of breakdown now. Please evacuate us just like the J&K administration evacuated other labours and students from Himachal and other parts,” he added.
“We want to come home and urge the government to evacuate us soon as possible as we are facing numerous problems in the city,” the students said.
They appealed the Lt Guv led administration and Chief Secretary to intervene and help them evacuate from Jaipur.
