Positive cases swell to 176 in Anantnag, Shopian districts

Anantnag: Seven more cases tested positive in Anantnag and Shopian districts of southern Kashmir taking the toll of total positive cases to 176 in the twin districts.
Among seven cases that were tested positive on Saturday, four belong to Anantnag and three to Shopian.
Pertinently, Anantnag was the last district in Kashmir to register a covid-19 positive case but within 18 days cases have reached to 99 in the district including one recovery and one death.
A person from Check-e-Wangund village of Dooru area with a contact history was the first positive case from district who was tested positive on April 14 and since then two more cases tested positive from the village.
Nowgam belt is the worst affected belt in the district with over 62 positive cases while as 19 cases are from Larnoo Kokernag area.
As of now six areas are affected in the district including Nowgam, Kharpora Larnoo, Khiram, Check e wangund, Aswara and Kadipora.
Among the four new cases two males with ages 28 and 46 are from Tailwani Anantnag and two minors with ages 3 years and 6 years are from Larnoo kokernag, officials said
The cases are likely to increase in the district as the testing has been rigorous and more people have been put in quarantine, they added.
In Shopian, Hirpora village has witnessed two more cases on Friday taking toll of total positive cases to 52. The first case in the village was reported on April 08.
Out of 114 samples tested on Saturday, three tested positive taking the toll of total positive cases in Shopian district to 77 including 19 recoveries.
