14 more test positive in Anantnag, Shopian

Positive cases surge to 169 in twin districts

Anantnag: With 14 more positive cases reported from Anantnag and Shopian districts of south Kashmir on Friday, the total toll of COVID-19 cases has reached to 169 in the twin districts besides, reporting 13 recoveries and one death.
With 12 new cases, the total number of positive cases in Anantnag has reached to 95 while as two fresh cases reported from Shopian has taken the toll to 74 cases in Shopian district.
In Anantnag, Nowgam and its adjoining villages in Shangus Tehsil have emerged as the hot spot for COVID-19. Officials said that as many as 63 persons have tested positive from the village.
The first positive case here was reported on April 14. The patient with no symptoms or travel history contracted the virus from a positive case from Kulgam.
The person had visited several places and met several people before he was isolated and put in quarantine. Most of those who turned positive later were his contacts.
The samples of a pregnant woman from Kharpora Larnoo village in Kokernag area of the district who died after suffering from twin Intra Uterine Death (IUD) also came positive for coronavirus.
In Shopian, Hirpora village witnessed two more positive cases on Friday taking the toll of positive cases to 49.
Officials from Anantnag said that among 12 new cases, 6 are from Kharpora Larnoo, 5 from Tailwani Achabal and one from Marhama Sangam.
Officials from the district said that among 12 cases, 5 are male while as 7 are females.
“Among 7 females, one is a 8 year old girl and 60 year old mentally unsound man from Kharpora Larnoo,” they said, adding, that among 5 persons from Tailwani 04 are from the same family.
On Friday, Sangam area in Anantnag district also reported its first corona positive case asa woman hailing from the area tested positive.
Notably, in Kulgam district 11 positive cases have been reported while as two among those have recovered. Pulwama has reported 7 cases and there among them have recovered.
