Kupwara: A group of female Kashmiri students stuck at Hauzkhas in Delhi Tuesday demanded immediate evacuation stating that they have gone into a state of depression in absence of attention from government despite asking for help in times of extreme exigency.
The female students complained that there was no response from the government when one of their colleagues was writhing in pain due to some ailment.
They also said that despite government directions not to ask for rent in this crisis situation landlord of GS Sarai Hostel has forcefully collected last month’s rent from them.
“One of our colleague was unwell and due to lockdown we couldn’t take her to hospital for treatment but when we tried to seek help from the government helpline they asked us to be your own saviour and if you have any issue tackle all that on your own,” they alleged.
Students also said that if other states across India can bring back their stranded students and labourers from other parts why cannot administration of Jammu and Kashmir evacuate it’s students who are left to suffer especially the female students.
“We made several attempts through different mediums but nothing has worked in our favour. We are helpless and left on God’s mercy,” they said.
The students said that condition is getting worse with each passing day and they are unable to meet their needs.
“Even we are not able take meals properly, government should think how long shall students stuck outside face problems.”
The students demanded that some concrete steps should be put in place by Jammu and Kashmir administration to facilitate their return back. (KNO)
