Lockdown woes: Three month old baby among two patients stranded in Punjab

Kulgam: A three month old baby along with his grandfather who was admitted in PGI Chandigarh have got stranded at Mohali along with other family members due to the lockdown announced to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Shabir Ahmad, son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat (66) a kidney patient and father of 3 month old baby who needs surgery in his foot said that his father and his three month old son along with his mother and wife are stranded in Mohali since March.
He said that his father is suffering from a kidney ailment and was admitted at PGI Chandigarh in January and is still stranded there along with my mother who was attending on him.
He further added that his son who is now of 3 months old along with his month also went to Chandigarh in March for an emergency surgery.
“My son had a deformity in one of his feet and he was advised a surgery. I sent him to Chandigarh along with my wife so that they too can avail treatment at Chandigarh as my father was already admitted there,” he added.
However, all my family members got stuck in Mohali after they were discharged from the hospital citing the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am a government employee and am presently posted outside J&K,” he said, adding that his whole family is stranded outside the state.
“My old aged father and my son needs proper care at the moment but due to lockdown we are unable to provide them what they need,” he said.
“Due to the rise in temperature and no proper care, my father’s conditions is worsening day by day besides that my son has also fallen ill at a place which does not suit us owing to hot weather conditions,” Shabir added.
Shabir requested central government and government of Jammu and Kashmir to intervene and facilitate their safe return to their home town.
