Awantipora Update: Two militants, one militant associate killed, operation over
Srinagar, Apr 25: Two militants and a militant associate were killed in an encounter which started early Saturday between government forces and militants in Goripora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama District.
Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar (IPS), said that two militants and one militant associate were killed in the gunfight.
However, identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, the IGP said.
Earlier reports said that a joint team of Police and army’s 50 RR launched a cordon and search operation in Goripora.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter. (GNS)
