Pak sending corona positive patients to Kashmir: DGP

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police chief Dilbagh Singh on Wednesday said that some serious information has come to fore that Covid-19 positive patients are being sent from across LoC into Kashmir to spread the deadly virus. He expressed concern over the development and advocated “strict precautions” for foiling the move.
Talking to reporters at Manigam Training Centre (MTC) in Ganderbal district that has been converted into a quality quarantine centre by the J&K police DGP Singh said that some serious inputs are coming to the fore that Pakistan is pushing Covid-19 positive patients into this part of Kashmir to spread the virus further.
“This is a serious issue and we need to take strict precautions to foil this move and prevent the further spread of the virus,” he said.
He appreciated the principal of MTC Ganderbal for converting the training center into a quality quarantine Center.
“There were some police men who had come in contact with the positive patients, but all of them are doing fine and there is no need to worry. I am glad to see this training centre (at Manigam) has been converted into a quality quarantine center by the principal,” he said.
The J&K police chief said that earlier he chaired a security review meeting at Ganderbal district with IGP Kashmir and other officers also present.
“I assessed that how the police along with other forces are implementing lockdown, provide relief to the people who are in need of essentials and other help. I am happy to see that forces are doing good work on ground,” the Police chief said.
Notably, two policemen have tested positive in Kashmir and all their contacts have been traced and put under quarantine. As per sources, both are doing fine and are recovering. (KNO)
